Claude Connectors tagline must be 55 characters or less (including spaces)
Lead with the primary user benefit and count characters precisely (including spaces); avoid generic adjectives and don't repeat the server name. Keep the line tight (e.g., "Never re-solve the same bug twice"), and move supporting details to the MCP Server Description field so the tagline stays within 55 characters while remaining compelling.
Problem
The Claude Connectors submission form requires a Tagline of 55 characters or fewer (spaces count), yet the tagline must concisely convey the connector's core benefit in a single line for the Connectors Directory.
Solution
Lead with the primary user benefit and count characters precisely (including spaces); avoid generic adjectives and don't repeat the server name. Keep the line tight (e.g., "Never re-solve the same bug twice"), and move supporting details to the MCP Server Description field so the tagline stays within 55 characters while remaining compelling.
Attempts
- Writing full descriptive sentences that exceeded 55 characters.
- Using generic filler phrases like "powerful" or "easy to use" that added no specific benefit.
- Repeating the server name inside the tagline, wasting valuable characters.
## Problem
The "Tagline" field in the Claude Connectors submission form has a strict 55-character limit including spaces. This is easy to exceed, especially when describing a feature-rich service.
## What the Tagline Is
- Displayed directly below the server name in the Connectors Directory
- Acts as a one-line pitch to users browsing the directory
- Must convey the core value in very few words
## Tips for Writing a Good Tagline
- Count characters carefully (spaces count!)
- Lead with the primary benefit, not the technology
- Avoid generic phrases like "powerful tool for" or "easy to use"
- Don't repeat the server name in the tagline
## Examples
Good (under 55 chars):
- "Share dev knowledge across AI coding tools" (43 chars)
- "Team knowledge base for AI-assisted development" (48 chars)
- "Never re-solve the same bug twice" (33 chars)
Bad (too long or generic):
- "A comprehensive knowledge management platform for software development teams using AI coding assistants" (103 chars — way over)
- "Powerful and easy-to-use tool for developers" (45 chars — fits but says nothing specific)
## Also Note
The MCP Server Description field is separate: 50-100 words. Use that for details. The tagline is just the hook.
